TOMAHAWK – Last week, 98-year-old community member and Milestone Senior Living resident Dorothy Kind enjoyed a special journey back to a place filled with treasured family memories.
Accompanied by her children, Dorothy traveled to Hemlock Haven, her family's hunting shack located in the Spirit Falls area.
Dorothy's father purchased Hemlock Haven in 1957, and over the years he expanded the rustic retreat, creating a gathering place for family and friends. Following his passing in 1981, maintaining the aging structure became increasingly difficult.
In 1990, the family made the decision to build a new cabin on the property before retiring the original shack. As a result, Dorothy holds cherished memories of both the original Hemlock Haven and the cabin that stands there today.
After many years away, Dorothy was thrilled to revisit this meaningful place and reflect on the memories it holds. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her children for making her dream of returning to Hemlock Haven a reality.
Following her visit, Dorothy continued her special day with lunch at Outboards before heading home, carrying with her the joy of reconnecting with a beloved piece of her family's history.
