TOMAHAWK – Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital recently welcomed Nate Maday, DPT, to its Physical Therapy Department.
Maday joins the Aspirus rehabilitation team to provide comprehensive physical therapy services to patients of all ages, helping them restore function, relieve pain and improve quality of life, a release from Aspirus said.
Maday is a Tomahawk native and a 2010 graduate of Tomahawk High School (THS).
Aspirus said Maday is “proud to bring his skills back to his hometown.”
“The plan was always to come back,” Maday said. “After years of school and work elsewhere, it feels great to return to the community where I grew up and to work with people I’ve known my whole life.”
Two of Maday’s sisters also work for Aspirus Health – one in Wausau and one in Tomahawk, Aspirus noted.
Maday earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from South College in Atlanta, Ga., completing a hybrid program that blended online coursework with on-campus clinical training. He earned an associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in Green Bay and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
“Before returning to Tomahawk as a DPT, Nate worked seven years with Aspirus as a Physical Therapist Assistant, gaining broad experience across patient populations and therapy settings,” Aspirus stated. “Nate’s professional interests include neurological rehabilitation and musculoskeletal conditions – areas that allow him to help patients regain independence and mobility after injury, surgery or illness.”
“In the Northwoods, you have to know a little bit about everything,” Maday said. “But I’m especially drawn to neuro and musculoskeletal cases because they challenge you to think critically and personalize care for every patient.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome Nate back to our team,” said Lori Mott, PT, Physical Therapist at Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital. “He brings a great combination of local roots, advanced education and genuine compassion for his patients. His commitment to our community and his well-rounded experience make him a wonderful addition to our department.”
For Maday, what makes Aspirus Tomahawk special is the sense of community.
“It’s rewarding to work in rural health care,” he said. “You know your patients and their families. That connection makes the work more meaningful.”
When he’s not helping patients, Maday enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Allison, and their two young children. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, canoeing, hiking and camping.
