Antigo man charged in multi-county pursuit appears in Lincoln County Court

Posted

MERRILL – An Antigo man who was arrested in Merrill last week after allegedly stealing several vehicles and leading law enforcement on pursuits in multiple counties made his first appearance in Lincoln County Court this week.

Joshua D. Micke, 44, appeared in court on Monday, Oct. 12, where he was charged with felony counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety; fleeing/eluding an officer, causing bodily harm or property damage; driving or operating a vehicle without owner's consent; and hit-and-run, involving injury.

Micke also faces misdemeanor charges of resisting or obstructing an officer; and reckless driving, causing bodily harm.

Each charge carries a repeater modifier, according to court records.

The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred on Thursday, Oct. 8. According to authorities, Micke reportedly stole multiple vehicles and led law enforcement on pursuits in Shawano, Menominee and Langlade counties before being taken into custody in Lincoln County.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said that a stolen vehicle Micke was operating struck another vehicle on E. Main St. in Merrill, causing minor injuries to the driver. Following the collision, Micke was ultimately apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

The incident caused a hand injury to a deputy that ultimately required surgery, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

During Micke’s appearance in Lincoln County Court last week, Judge Galen Bayne-Allison set a $100,000 cash bond. If bond is posted, Micke must be equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) monitoring device prior to release, and he is prohibited from leaving Lincoln County and adjacent counties. Micke is also barred from possessing “instrumentalities” such as motor vehicles, chainsaws and firearms, court records say.

Bayne-Allison ordered a competency exam for Micke, according to court records.

Micke is scheduled to return to Lincoln County court on Thursday, Nov. 5, for a telephone scheduling conference.

Charges against Micke have been filed in Shawano County, with additional charges in other jurisdictions possible.
