Sue Mackay (Dupons) was born in Kenosha, Wis., to Arthur and Mary Jane Dupons and was the third youngest of four siblings. She grew up with horses and was an experienced rider. She could always be found with her beloved sister Georgia having fun riding horses. She married John B. Cherven and had two boys, John and Michael.
Sue then went back to school to become a nurse and achieved LPN status. Her career was focused on helping the elderly at various skilled nursing facilities. Her adventures took her to northern Wisconsin, where she loved the Harley-Davidson lifestyle, collecting antiques and sunbathing/swimming at her house that was literally on the sandy beach.
Her sister’s declining health brought her back to northern Illinois, where she would spend time with family and take her sister shopping. After her sister's passing, she would help with the care of her mother until she took her advice to move to Colorado to be with her boys.
She enjoyed retirement by spending it with family, cooking and baking, decorating her home for her favorite holidays – Halloween and Christmas, keeping multiple flower gardens and feeding the hummingbirds. Sue had a very kind heart and was always there to help anyone who needed help. She was always helping – even up to her last days wanting to help staff with basic tasks keeping busy.
Sue is survived by her two brothers, Arthur (Butch) and Warren and her two sons, John and Mike and a granddaughter, Hannah.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents and sister.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated.
