Middle school swimmers compete in Mosinee meet

MOSINEE – On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the Tomahawk Middle School (TMS) girls’ swim team competed in a meet in Mosinee.

Coach Megan Backes said it was a “fantastic performance for everyone, especially against a couple large teams.”

Results are as follows.

Team results: Mosinee 78, Tomahawk 68; Tomahawk 72, Merrill 67; John Muir 92, Tomahawk 55.

3rd place: 200-yard medley relay – Elaine Huber, Nora Bubolz, Kamryn Black, and Kortney Busterud (2:26.80).

5th place and 6th place: 200-yard freestyle – Kortney Busterud (2:48.46) and Everlyn Niemeyer, swimming this event for the first time (3:07.08).

1st place and 4th place: 100-yard IM – Kamryn Black (1:15.64) and Nora Bubolz (1:18.30, personal record).

1st place: 50-yard freestyle – Elaine Huber (28.79).

4th place: 50-yard butterfly – Nora Bubolz (37.69).

1st place: 200-yard freestyle relay – Kamryn Black, Kortney Busterud, Nora Bubolz and Elaine Huber (2:06.80).

1st place: 50-yard backstroke – Elaine Huber (32.75, personal record).

3rd place: 50-yard breaststroke – Kamryn Black (40.59).

5th place: 400 freestyle relay – Kortney Busterud, Everlyn Niemeyer, Skylar Safranek-Aniol and Sloane Eisenman (5:39.15).

Skylar Safranek-Aniol, 50-yard backstroke (45.48, personal record).

The TMS swimmers’ final meet was of the season was slated for Saturday, Oct. 11 at Horace Mann.
