Michael James Cummings, 66, passed away February 28, 2026, in Middleton, Wisconsin, surrounded by his family. Born November 24, 1959, in Peoria, Illinois, to James and Gail Cummings, he built a career in finance that moved his family across Illinois, Alabama, and Florida before settling in Wisconsin for 20 years.
A lifelong Catholic, devoted husband, and proud father and grandfather, Michael was an accomplished athlete in his younger years, competing in swimming and triathlons and playing rugby. He loved golfing and the great outdoors. He was known for his storytelling and humor.
He married Marguerite Cummings (Pilcher) on April 9, 1983; they had known each other since age five. He is survived by his wife; his children Allison Brandt (Greyling), Amanda Cummings (Christopher Vogel), Alex Cummings (Katie), and Andrew Cummings (Mary Beth); seven grandchildren; his seven siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 306 W 4th St, Hinsdale, IL at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Visitation will take place at the church that morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
