As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Nov. 3:
On 10/27/2025 a deputy on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on CTH K near CTH FF in the Town of Scott for a speeding violation. The deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Moving radar indicated the vehicle was traveling at 120 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 19. The driver stated he was late in getting to his girlfriend’s house. The driver was cited for traveling 65 MPH over the speed limit, endangering safety and unreasonable and imprudent speed.
On 10/29/2025 deputies were advised of a possible reckless driver on USH 51 near mile marker 224 in the Town of Skanawan. The caller was reporting a vehicle swerving all over the road. When a deputy got in the area, they located a vehicle matching the description given of the suspect vehicle parked on the side of USH 51 near the 225 mile marker. The deputy made contact with the driver, an Elk Mound man, 68. In speaking with the driver, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The deputy asked the driver to do some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the man was placed under arrest for a second offense OWI. He was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail and turned over to corrections officers.
On 11/1/2025 a deputy was sent to a vehicle in the ditch on CTH K near Short Rd. in the Township of Scott. In making contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 25, the driver stated he swerved to miss a deer. While speaking with the man, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The deputy asked the driver to do some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the man was placed under arrest for a first offense OWI. The man was also placed on a probation hold. He was then later transported to the Lincoln County Jail and turned over to corrections staff.
Deputies conducted 53 traffic stops and 59 security checks.
Deputies responded to seven car vs. deer crashes.
