As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Feb. 2:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint concerning speeding vehicles on Hillside Dr. between CTH JJ and CTH K in the mornings at school time. Extra patrols will be done in the area for focused traffic enforcement on speeding violations.

On 01/30/26, the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a two-car crash with unknown injuries at the intersection of STH 17 and CTH G in the Town of Merrill. Upon arrival, deputies reported that the road was blocked by the two cars involved in the crash. Deputies spoke with the drivers. It was determined that the driver of one car, being operated by a Merrill male, 16, had been N/B on STH 17 and attempted to turn W/B on CTH G to head to school. The second vehicle, being operated by a Gleason woman, 50, had been S/B on STH 17 when she struck the first vehicle as it turned in front of her. The woman reported suffering neck pain and was later transported to the hospital by private auto.

On 01/30/26 a deputy was sent to the area of Church Ave. near Fairview Rd. in the Town of Scott for a reported vehicle being in the ditch. When the deputy arrived on scene, they made contact with the driver, a Merrill woman, 67. The driver advised she had run off the road and that she had been drinking. The deputy reported signs of impairment, and as a result asked the driver to perform some sobriety tests. Following the tests, the driver was placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI. The woman was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where she was turned over to corrections officers.

On 01/31/26 deputies were sent to the area of the N11000 block of CTH U for a one-car crash with injuries. When deputies arrived on scene, they spoke with the driver of the car, a Wisconsin Rapids man, 44, who stated he lost control of his vehicle on slippery roads. The vehicle then entered the ditch and struck a tree. The driver reported a head injury.

On 02/01/26 a deputy was send to an address of CTH A in the Town of King for a report of a theft that occurred sometime within the last year. The R/P, a Tomahawk man, 59, reported that while his house was under construction, unknown persons removed a high-value piece of art from the property. The R/P did provide the deputy with possible suspect names, and as of this time, the case remains under investigation. Further leads are being followed up on, and as of this time, no arrests have been made.

Deputies conducted 36 traffic stops and 64 security checks.
