Richard “Rich” J. McAllister, age 59, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Thailand. Rich was born on October 17, 1966, in Palos Hills, IL, to the late Robert McAllister, Sr., and Geraldine B. Bjelland. At a young age, Rich moved with his family to Tomahawk, WI. He graduated from Tomahawk High School with the Class of 1985. Following graduation, Rich proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Upon returning to Wisconsin, Rich built a long career at the Rhinelander Paper Mill, working as a skilled pipefitter until his retirement in 2023. Following his retirement, he embarked on a new adventure and moved to Thailand. There, he embraced the culture, made numerous close friends, and created wonderful, lasting memories.
Rich was a passionate sportsman. He was an avid bowler and spent much of his free time pursuing his love for pool and golf. He was also a lifelong Chicago Bears fan, sharing a deep love for the team just like his father.
Survivors include his sons, Jordan McAllister and Mitch McAllister; and his brothers, Rob (Lisa) McAllister and Ron (Lori) McAllister. He is further survived by many extended family members and dear friends both in the United States and Thailand. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; his mother, Geraldine; and his sister, Rose Belling.
