Frances M. Anderson, 96, of Tomahawk passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026 at Milestone Assisted Living. Fran was born December 2, 1929 in Tomahawk, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Umlauft) Hanson. She was united in marriage to Robert Anderson on March 19, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 13 2009.
Fran was an executive secretary at Owens-Illinois in Tomahawk, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and singing, as well as gardening and golfing with husband Bob. Over the years she was an active member of both St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church. She loved making quilts for mission with friends at church. When Bob required nursing home care she participated in singing activities there and continued this ministry after his passing.
Surviving Fran are her daughter, Sharon (William) Handy of Ashland; son, Sever (Scott Kelly) Anderson of Plain View, NY; grandchildren Amber and Elizabeth Handy; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Webb, Lucinda Webb and Lukas Handy; sister-in-law Pat Hanson of Marshfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert; sisters, Evelyn Rathke and Katherine Dahl; brothers, George Krieg and Charles Hanson.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Julie Sinkula officiating. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of service. Memorials are appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association or Grace Lutheran Church.
