Dean F. Turner

Posted

Dean F. Turner, age 74, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Dean was born in Chicago, IL, on January 21, 1952, to the late Kenneth Dean and Dorothy (Gustafson) Turner.

Dean was, above all, an adventurous soul who lived life to the fullest. A daring experimental aircraft aviator and pioneer hang glider, he was never afraid to explore, create, or take on a new challenge. He loved everything the outdoors had to offer, including hunting, fishing, and running his Wood-Mizer business and Three T’s Resort.

Dean had an insatiable interest in the stars and space and a remarkable talent for developing innovative solutions to life’s challenges. His many interests included breeding angelfish, creating clay pottery, photography, and watching old movies. He was also an experienced scuba diver, whitewater kayaker, and barefoot water skier. And, of course, Dean had a special passion for fireworks.

Some of Dean’s happiest memories were made during summers up north on Lake Nokomis, surrounded by his wonderful family of cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as the many friends he made throughout his lifetime. He treasured these connections and the adventures and laughter they brought to his life.

Rain or shine, Dean greeted each day with open arms and his unmistakable enthusiasm, proclaiming, “It’s a beautiful day!”

Survivors include his wife, Laura Kalal; his loving son, Kenneth Turner; his brother, Fred Turner, Sr.; and his beloved Chesapeake companion, Pewbert.  Dean was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; and his father, Kenneth.

Thumbs up, Dean! We love you and will always cherish the enthusiastic memories we share.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.  Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.  You may view Dean’s obituary and leave online condolences at generationsfuneral.com.
