WISCONSIN – The Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) Foundation is now accepting applications for its technical college scholarships.
A release from WPS said the Foundation has increased funding for its technical college scholarships, with a total of $25,000.00 available through this year’s program to “(help) even more students take their next steps toward career success.”
Scholarships are awarded to help eligible students work toward completing a one-year technical diploma or two-year associate degree program.
High school seniors living in the WPS service area can receive a technical college scholarship to attend one of six select technical schools full-time next fall: Fox Valley Technical College, Lakeshore Technical College, Mid-State Technical College, Nicolet Technical College, Northcentral Technical College and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
“The WPS Foundation’s technical college scholarships are part of its commitment to enhance education and support area students,” WPS stated.
Last year, the scholarships helped 25 students begin working toward careers in fields such as electric power distribution, engineering, human resources and information technology, according to WPS.
Interested students can apply for a scholarship on the foundation’s website at www.tinyurl.com/mty6ahux.
Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, April 30.
WPS said each scholarship awarded is for an average of $750.00. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, school and community leadership activities and financial need.
The WPS Foundation has donated more than $6 million through all of its scholarship programs since it was founded in 1964, helping thousands of students pursue college degrees or technical diplomas.
