Work on State Hwy. 86 over U.S. Hwy. 51 in Tomahawk set to begin next week

Posted

TOMAHAWK – This week, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced that Governor Tony Evers signed a $450,000.00 contract to improve State Hwy. 86 over U.S. Hwy. 51 between the U.S. Hwy. 51 southbound ramps and the U.S. Hwy. 51 northbound ramps in the City of Tomahawk.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 30.

Zenith Tech Inc. is the prime contractor for the project.

According to a release from WisDOT, crews will resurface the State Hwy. 86/County Hwy. D bridge over U.S. Hwy. 51, replace guardrail at both ends of the bridge and replace drainage flumes west of the bridge.

During construction, State Hwy. 86 will be closed between ramp terminals and detoured via the County Hwy.  A and County Hwy. S interchanges.

Construction is scheduled for completion by June 2026, WisDOT said, noting that the schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
