USDA, DNR: Wolves depredate beef calf, injure adult cow in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY – Wolves recently depredated a beef calf and injured an adult cow on a farm located in the Town of Pine River in Lincoln County, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Wildlife Services verified the depredation and injury on Saturday, June 8.

DNR said non-lethal abatement options are being discussed with the livestock producer.

DNR partners with USDA Wildlife Services to investigate reported conflicts with wolves.

Livestock producers who suspect a wolf or bear has depredated or is harassing livestock can contact USDA Wildlife Services at 1-800-228-1368 (northern Wisconsin) or 1-800-433-0663 (southern Wisconsin).
