As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, March 16:
On 03/11/26 deputies were advised of a reckless driver traveling all over the road and going into oncoming traffic in the area of Muskellunge Lake Rd. and CTH A in the Town of Bradley. Prior to the deputy’s arrival, it was reported that the suspect vehicle was stopped in the road in the wrong lane of traffic. It was also reported that a Tomahawk police officer was out with the suspect at an address on Muskellunge Lake Rd. When the deputy arrived on scene, he was told by the Tomahawk police officer that the driver, a Tomahawk man, was showing signs of impairment. The deputy asked the man if he would perform some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do; however, he did not complete all the tests that were asked. As a result of those tests, the man was placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI. The man was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to corrections staff.
On 03/15/26 a deputy on patrol located a vehicle in the ditch on USH 51 near the 228 mile marker in the Town of Bradley. The deputy reported that the vehicle’s tires were still spinning at the time. When the deputy went to check on the driver, a Wausau man, 64, he was found to be not breathing. The deputy, who was assisted by a Trooper from the Wisconsin State Patrol, eventually were able to gain entry into the vehicle, remove the driver and begin life saving measures. The officers requested an ambulance from Tomahawk. Upon arrival, the ambulance crew took over care for the man and transported him to Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Both officers sustained minor injuries as a result of breaking into the vehicle.
Deputies conducted 50 traffic stops and 30 security checks.
Deputies responded to one car vs. deer crash and 28 vehicle in the ditch calls due to snowy weather.
