Gustaf “Gus” H. Feind, age 71, of Tomahawk, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, Wis. Born on Dec. 1, 1953, in Astoria, Ore., to Milton Feind and Mary Neuert, Gus grew into a man known for his passion, precision, and vibrant spirit. He was a 1972 graduate of Tomahawk High School and later married his soulmate, Patricia Salacinski, on Aug. 31, 1995.

Gus lived life with unmatched enthusiasm. A proud member of the American Motorcycle Association, he loved racing 1/2-mile flat track and earned expert status, an accomplishment that reflected both his skill and his fearless competitive nature. His talent extended to the shooting range as well. With the Amateur Trapshooting Association, he registered over 100,000 targets, a milestone few achieve. For 37 years and 10 days, Gus worked in the Power Department at Owens-Illinois where he was known for his strong work ethic and keen attention to detail. But when hunting season arrived, the call of the outdoors pulled him in completely. He was an avid hunter of deer, squirrel, and bear, though duck hunting was his true passion. Each year, he’d take a full month off simply to immerse himself in the marshes, his favorite place to be. Nature seemed to sense his gentle spirit as several tame deer and partridge would even accompany him on walks down the road. One of Gus’ fondest memories was the day he took his first ride in a biplane and had to remove his boots in order to get on the plane. That flight stayed with him for the rest of his life, truly one of his biggest thrills. A genuine people person, Gus thrived on conversation. He was known for stopping at Kwik Trip, more than 4,800 times, collecting points he’d never dream of using. Whether chatting with friends or sharing stories with strangers, Gus made everyone feel welcome. His competitive streak, meticulous nature, and strong personality were trademarks of who he was, authentic and determined.

Survivors include his wife of over 30 years, Patricia Feind; his mother, Mary Feind; his stepsons, Adam (Heather) Felser, and Jacob (Nikki) Felser; his brother, Joey Feind; and his sisters, Terry (Steve) Johnson, and Patti Feind. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Blake and Ryan Felser; and his good friend, Jim Wurster.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton “Joe” Feind.

Memorial services for Gus were held on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Aloysius Royan Anthony officiated. The family received friends for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:30 p.m.
