LINCOLN COUNTY – Discover Wisconsin this week announced that Uniquely Wisconsin, its sister brand focused on showcasing the unique stories of the Badger State’s communities, won an Emmy award for a story focused on Lincoln County.
Uniquely Wisconsin, Discover Wisconsin and Lincoln County were nominated in the Outstanding Achievement for Human Interest – Short Form Content category at the 67th Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards, held in Chicago on Saturday, Nov. 1.
The partners were nominated for their digital short, “The Heart of Wisconsin Mushing.”
“In this video, step into the town of Gleason, Wis., where the serene beauty of rural life meets the exhilarating world of dog sledding,” a release from Uniquely Wisconsin said. “Join us as we follow Melissa Omernick, a passionate musher whose love for the sport and her beloved sled dogs is truly infectious.”
Uniquely Wisconsin said the public can experience the in person at The Doris Lovrine Memorial Dog Sled Race in Gleason. The annual event, named in honor of Doris Lovrine, a passionate supporter of sled dog sports, draws competitors and spectators from across the region.
“Teams of skilled mushers and their energetic sled dogs navigate through scenic trails, testing their speed, agility and teamwork,” Uniquely Wisconsin stated. “The event typically features various race categories, including sprint and mid-distance races, catering to both seasoned competitors and newcomers alike. With its vibrant atmosphere and strong sense of community, the Doris Lovrine Memorial Dog Sled Race offers an exciting experience for participants and spectators, while honoring the enduring legacy of sled dog racing in Wisconsin.”

In their partnership, Lincoln County, Uniquely Wisconsin and Discover Wisconsin have been working together to share stories and reach viewers through TV advertising, blogs and short and long-form videos, according to Uniquely Wisconsin.
