LINCOLN COUNTY – The thrilling world of dog sledding can be found in Lincoln County, as Melissa Omernick, an emergency room nurse and passionate musher, shares her 29-year journey in the sport and her love for Gleason's beautiful outdoor landscape.
The Lincoln County story, featuring Melissa and her dogs, has been highlighted in a Uniquely Wisconsin program.
Coverage of this story will include a portion of the Uniquely Wisconsin broadcast documentary, a streaming docuseries, social and digital stories and an appearance on “The Cabin” podcast.
“Wisconsin Musher & The Love for Their Dogs: Beauty Behind Dog Sledding,” was released on YouTube and all Discover Wisconsin (DW) streaming platforms on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Built upon generations of rich storytelling from Discover Wisconsin, the two-time Emmy Award winning Uniquely Wisconsin brand highlights the stories of the people, the culture and the history of our state, sprinkled in with a bit of economic development and tourism.

Current counties sharing their Uniquely Wisconsin stories in Season Three, which will be released through Dec. 2024, include Ashland, Calumet, Jefferson, Lincoln and Oconto.
Season One and Two Counties included Portage, Marathon, Adams, Rock, Sauk, Sheboygan Monroe, Wood, Racine, Kenosha, Green Lake and Price.
