Trailer for Tomahawk documentary film released

Posted

TOMAHAWK – A trailer for a documentary film focused on Tomahawk has been released.

Tomahawk: A City in the Pines is being directed by John Newcombe, a Los Angeles, Calif.-based, Academy Award-winning filmmaker.

Newcombe, whose short film Lovestruck won the Academy Award for Student Films Mid-Atlantic Region, was recruited to the Tomahawk project by the film’s producer, Tomahawk native Clay Schmit.

In announcing the production of the film last year, Schmit said the documentary aims to “celebrate the remarkable history of our city and to tell the story of how Tomahawk has developed into a vibrant and thriving community today.”

The trailer mainly focuses on the Tomahawk area’s history of logging, but it also features clips touching on manufacturing and recreation.

Fundraising for the film is ongoing. Last year, Schmit established a 501c3 organization called the Tomahawk Historical Film Project, which allows for donations to be tax-deductible.
