RHINELANDER – A Tomahawk resident is one of two new board members recently sworn in to the Nicolet College Board of Trustees.
Nicolet last week announced that Teri Theiler of Tomahawk and Kristin Allen of Lac du Flambeau have joined the board.
Theiler will serve as an interim additional member with a two-year term, according to Nicolet. She currently serves as the President-Aspirus North Division, and she also contributes her expertise as a board member for Howard Young and the Wisconsin Hospital Association.
Allen, who currently serves as the Higher Education Transition Coordinator with the Lac du Flambeau Tribe, will join the board as an additional member with a three-year term. She has contributed to numerous boards, committees and commissions for over the last 10 years, Nicolet said.
“We’re delighted to welcome Kristin and Teri to the Board of Trustees,” said Kate Ferrel, President of Nicolet College. “They each bring deep expertise combined with enthusiasm for education. Their perspectives will help ensure Nicolet College continues to be an asset to the people of our district.”
At its July organizational meeting, Nicolet said, the board elected officers for 2026-27. They are Eric Burke, Chair; Bob Martini, Vice-Chair; Bob Mott, Treasurer; and Stephanie Byers, Secretary.
“Each January, applications open for residents of the Nicolet College district to serve on the Board of Trustees,” Nicolet stated. “Board members must reside in the district to ensure they represent the interests of the local communities served by the College.”
Nicolet explained that state guidelines dictate that technical college boards must have employers, employees, a PreK-12 school superintendent, an elected government or school board member and at-large members.
“These guidelines for representation ensure the College is governed by people invested in a wide range of community interests,” Nicolet said.
Board member applications are reviewed, interviewed and voted on by the elected county chairs in the Nicolet College district, which includes Oneida, Vilas, Forest, Iron, Langlade and Lincoln counties.
