TOWN OF NOKOMIS – The Tomahawk, Nokomis and Little Rice fire departments this week teamed up with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for a training session focused on spring wildfires.
A total of 33 firefighters gathered at the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department, where they reviewed terminology, priorities and safety before heading outside to talk in more detail about tractor-plows, Type 4 engines and Type 6 engines.
The departments also shared a meal, provided by the Little Rice Canteen and The Grill.
The Tomahawk Fire Department thanked the DNR for leading the training.
“Staying sharp and ready for wildfire season is critical, and we appreciate the knowledge and hands-on experience,” the Tomahawk department said. “Stay safe, stay prepared, and as always, we’re here for our community.”
