For the Tomahawk Leader
TOMAHAWK – Tomahawk Main Street Inc. recently presented American Legion Post 93 and VFW Post 2687 with donations from proceeds raised by the Honor Banners program.
Honor banners pay tribute to local veterans, featuring names, photos and ranks. They are hung along W. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Tomahawk.
Each year since the Honor Banners program’s inception in 2019, Main Street has presented Tomahawk’s veterans organizations each with a $500.00 donation.
In a release, Main Street said it was “pleased to be able to pay it forward to these fantastic non-profit, hometown entities.”
“There are not enough words, nor the right words, to fully express our appreciation to our military men and women who sacrifice so much for each and every one of us,” Main Street stated. “Their continued dedication humbles us, and we are blessed to be able to share this token of gratitude. We are proud to support the missions of both the American Legion and VFW, and all of our veterans who helped procure, and continue to protect, our freedoms.”
Main Street noted that it currently has four banners available for 2023, and those interested can reserve a banner for 2024.
