TOMAHAWK – Harley-Davidson Tomahawk Operations recently made donations to the Tomahawk Emergency Food Pantry and Kinship of Tomahawk.
Late last year, Tomahawk’s two Harley plants, Somo and Kaphaem, held a friendly “food fight” to see which plant could collect more items for the Tomahawk Emergency Food Pantry, with the Area Manager of the second-place plant having to take a pie to the face.
However, if both plants were able to gather 1,000 items combined, then Tomahawk Operations General Manager John Davis would be “the guy getting the pie.”
The competition ultimately led to a donation of 1,002 items to the pantry, and Davis recently accepted his punishment. Since there are two plants with four shifts, Davis ended up on the receiving end of four pies.
“Pie-tosser” privileges were raffled off among Harley employees, with one person from each shift at each plant getting the honors. The raffle, along with a contribution from Van Ert Electrical, raised an additional $1,748.00 for the pantry.
“The real winner here was the Tomahawk Emergency Food Pantry, just in time for Christmas,” said Roxanne Consolver of Tomahawk Operations.
Tomahawk Operations also offered tags for their employees to purchase gifts for the kids at Kinship of Tomahawk, the community’s youth mentorship program. The gifts were delivered to the Kinship House by Somo Plant Area Manager Andrew Marvin.
