THS students tour local businesses as part of CTE Month

TOMAHAWK – Tomahawk High School (THS) students recently visited several local businesses as part of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month.
Metals Fabrication and Technical Metals students toured Daigle Brothers Inc. of Tomahawk to learn about basic operations that the company employs to be one of the top steel fabricators in the Northwoods. Photos courtesy of Brian Schiltz.
Metals Fabrication and Technical Metals students visited Tweet/Garot Mechanical in Tomahawk, where THS alumni Josh Marino and Aaron Becker shared their academic and career plans with current THS students, while others demonstrated basic machine operations and techniques used for everyday fabrication needs.
Metals Fabrication and Technical Metals students toured Tomahawk's Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) mill, where students learned about the various career opportunities in the papermaking process, as well as the basic operations that occur in a papermaking facility.
Students also had the opportunity to learn TIG welding methods and techniques on stainless steel from THS alumnus Jeremy Theiler, welder/fabricator with Samuel Pressure Vessel Group.
