RHINELANDER – Three Tomahawk High School (THS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students this week took part in an educational game designed to help promote financial literacy and awareness among high schoolers.
The 13th annual Rhinelander Regional Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl, organized by Asset Builders, was held at Nicolet College on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
The team from Tomahawk was made up of FBLA President Galen Schmidt, FBLA Treasurer Lily Krueger and FBLA member Kenadie Gilbert.
Instructor Connor Ahrens explained that as part of the fun, informative and exciting game, students competed against teams from other area schools in a game show-style format.
After finishing their seeding game, the Tomahawk squad officially began their inaugural “in-season game” against one of the many Rhinelander teams and won with 135 points. Advancing to the second round, Tomahawk faced one of two Bowler teams, losing with 10 points.
“The Tomahawk students enjoyed the chance to compete on their business knowledge and look forward to next year’s competition,” Ahrens stated.
