Steven 'JR' E. Kyska

Steven “JR” E. Kyska, age 65, of Tomahawk, quietly fell asleep on Sunday, June 1, 2025, and road off into eternity. He was in his favorite chair watching “The Outlaw Josey Wales.” Steve was born in Illinois on June 28, 1959, to the late Steven and Judy (Herrin) Kyska, Sr. He was married to Shelly Spencer on Sept. 17, 2011; she survives.

Steve worked with his uncles, Rich and Bill Kyska, at Steve’s Sheet Metal, Heating, and AC in Arlington Heights, Ill. He had spent the last 20 years in the Northwoods where he loved motorcycling, watching John Wayne movies, listening to blues, and enjoying Miller Lites and Marlboros. Steve was an honorary member and lifetime supporter of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club and was a member of the American Legion Post 208 in Illinois.

Survivors include his wife, Shelly Kyska; his daughters, Aimee (Michael) Larock and Jennifer (Buddy) Riggs; his sisters, Vicki (Dale) Boven and Tracy (Bryce) Bauske; in addition to his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his stepchildren, Trish (Nate) Shrock and Nate (Andrea) Peterson, and his six step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Judy.

A memorial service was held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 1 p.m., at Generations Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Mathein officiated. The family received friends for visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. A luncheon celebration followed at the Fish Trap Bar.
