Sherry A. Thompson

Sherry A. Thompson, 89, a lifelong Tomahawk area resident, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025 under the care of Compassus Hospice at Milestone Assisted Living in Tomahawk.

Sherry was born May 7, 1935 in Marshfield to Vera (Young) Crass. She had attended Tomahawk Schools and graduated in 1953. Sherry was first married to Richard “Dick” Kahle. In 1974 Sherry married Tommy Thompson and enjoyed almost 30 years together. He passed away in 2002. Sherry had worked at Owens-Illinois starting as a key punch operator and retired as a computer technician from PCA. She enjoyed helping senior citizens with their computers, she initiated the Prayer Shawl program at Grace Lutheran Church, she was a member of the Red Hatters, Tomahawk Garden Club, and had been a Kinship mentor.

Surviving Sherry Thompson are her children, Steve (Connie Bielke) Kahle, Darla (Jim) Jansen, Janis Southworth, all of Tomahawk, and Scott (Amy) Kahle all of Hartland, Wis.; stepchildren, Nancy (Paul Slota) Thompson and Guy (Judy) Thompson. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Carol Jarvensivu.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, a grandchild Jared Southworth, daughter-in-law Sue Kahle, son-in-law Jim Southworth, stepdaughters Mary Fannin, Jamie Kolberg and stepson, John Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Barry Young, Sandra Stieber, Art Crass, Ron Crass, and Ken Crass.

The Memorial Service for Sherry Thompson will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at Krueger Nimsgern Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and again on Friday at Grace Lutheran from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
