Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal incident near Tomahawk

TOMAHAWK – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident near Tomahawk that involved a fatality.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, April 24, just before 5 p.m., a Trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol initiated a traffic stop on U.S. Hwy. 51 north of County Rd. A. The Sheriff’s Office said the sole occupant of the vehicle fled from the traffic stop, “and during the incident, the driver appears to have sustained a self-inflicted fatal injury.”

The driver had not been identified as of press time on Monday, April 27.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Tomahawk Police Department, along with the State Patrol, responded to the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
