FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER
TOMAHAWK - The Lincoln County Health Department has reopened Rodeway Inn & Suites, 1738 Comfort Drive, Tomahawk, on a conditional permit after closing the hotel last week due to a Legionella outbreak. Over the past 12 months, two individuals had become infected with Legionella within two weeks of staying at the hotel, according to the Health Department.
A conditional permit, which allows Rodeway to be open, means interim requirements to address the Legionella in the hotel’s water system have been met. The hotel has installed point-of-use filters on faucets and showers to minimize the risk of exposure to Legionella. The pool and whirlpool remain closed at this time.
Rodeway Inn & Suites will continue to work with a water consultant who specializes in Legionella in developing a water management plan that will provide a long-term solution to the Legionella bacteria, the Health Department states. This plan will be approved by Health Department and state regulatory agencies.
Those who are planning to visit the Rodeway Inn & Suites should evaluate their risk of infection or talk to their doctor if they have questions.
