Robert “Bob” A. Haring, age 78, of Tomahawk, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Riverview Health Services in Tomahawk. Bob was born in Chicago, Ill., on Aug. 14, 1944, to the late Bernard F. and Elizabeth (Schuit) Haring. He was married to Beverly Grubbs on May 4, 1968; she survives.
Bob grew up in Tomahawk and was a 1964 graduate of Tomahawk High School. After graduation, he attended culinary school and worked at a local resort for several years. He then was employed at Northern View Mink Ranch and later Semco Windows where he retired in 2004. Bob’s first passion was woodworking. He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, birdwatching, and gardening, and enjoyed grilling and cooking, playing pool, darts, and horseshoes. His family meant the world to him and he spent countless hours playing cards, cribbage, and Skip Bo with them. He enjoyed watching the Brewers and Packers and loved shopping, especially on Black Friday. In his younger years, Bob was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department where he was a fire inspector. He had an outgoing and welcoming personality and was loved and cherished by his family.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Beverly Haring, of Tomahawk; his daughter, Brenda (Greg) Jones, of Peshtigo, Wis.; his brothers, Bernie (Carol) Haring, Mike (Melissa) Haring, and Joe (Laura) Haring, all of Tomahawk; his sisters, Betty Lou McArdle, of Las Vegas, Nev., Peggy Hitt, of Fond du Lac, Wis., Patricia (Mike) Butz, of St. Cloud, Wis., and Mary Carstensen, of Tomahawk; his brother-in-law, Harry Fender, of Ashley, Ind.; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Haring, of Superior, Wis. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Keith (Lindsay) Jones, Austin (TJ) Jones, Finley (Tom) Jones, and George Jones; his great-grandchildren, Calvin Jones and Phoebe Jones; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Betty; his siblings, Agnes Fender, Virginia Larson, Richard Haring, and Tom Haring; and his brothers-in-law, Dusty Carstensen, Mac McArdle, Bob Larson, Ken Hitt, and Bill Lovelace. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Sharon Cornell who was a wonderful caretaker for many years and became like a daughter to both Bob and Bev.
Memorial services for Robert Haring will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Generations Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Rev. Larry Mathein will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
