Rhinelander City Administrator arrested for misconduct in public office

RHINELANDER – Rhinelander City Administrator Daniel Guild was arrested by Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies on Monday, March 9, for misconduct in public office, a press release from the Sheriff’s Office states.

According to the release, Guild’s arrest was a result of an open records request complaint from the Northwoods River News and subsequent execution of two state search warrants that were executed on Nov. 21, 2019, at Rhinelander City Hall. The warrants were for tampering with public records and misconduct in public office, the release stated.

Guild is anticipated to make his initial appearance in Oneida County Court on Tuesday, March 10.

Oneida County Sheriff’s Detectives along with Detectives from the Price County Sheriff’s Office, Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, and Wisconsin Department of Justice–Digital Forensics Support assisted in the investigation. The Oneida County District Attorney’s Office will handle the prosecution of the case.
