Posted

ONEIDA COUNTY – The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) recently announced the launch of the county’s new Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

A release from OCHD said the CHIP is a “comprehensive approach designed to address the pressing health needs of our community.”

The plan will be detailed at an event at the Nicolet College Northwoods Center, 5364 College Dr., Rhinelander, on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“We welcome everyone to attend this free event,” OCHD said. “It is our goal to bring together health experts, community leaders and residents to showcase the top four health priorities outlined in the CHIP and how it will shape the future of public health in our county.”

With a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing disparities, OCHD said the CHIP aims to address:

  • Housing: Expanding access to safe and affordable housing for all residents.
  • Childcare: Supporting families by improving the availability and affordability of quality childcare.
  • Substance use: Addressing substance use through enhanced prevention efforts.
  • Mental health: Promoting mental well-being for all and expanding access to mental health care.

“We are thrilled to introduce this dynamic plan that prioritizes the well-being of all residents,” said OCHD Director Linda Conlon. “By working together, we can create lasting change and improve the quality of life for all who call Oneida County home.”

OCHD noted that the CHIP is “the result of a collaborative process, engaging stakeholders from across the public and private sectors.”

“It represents a shared vision for a healthier, more equitable community,” OCHD stated. “We will continue to work with partners to address the unique health needs of Oneida County and ensure that all residents have access to the resources they need to thrive. Please mark your calendar and join us for this exciting, free event.”
