Nokomis firefighters recognized for training, education accomplishments

Posted

TOWN OF NOKOMIS – Last week, three members of the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department were recognized for their accomplishments in training and education.

Firefighters Kaylynn Sandry and Dakota Jelinek and Lieutenant Russell Berg were celebrated during the department’s monthly meeting on Monday, April 7.

A post on the department’s Facebook page said Sandry completed the 96-hour Firefighter I and 24-hour Haz-Mat courses offered by Nicolet College at Tomahawk High School.

“She completed her probationary membership period and was already on a fire attack team at her first structure fire,” the department stated.

After completing the 80-plus-hour Emergency Medical Responder course and exams, Jelinek is just one step away from being able to respond to medical calls, in addition to fire calls. The department said Jelinek’s license was going through the credentialing process as of last week.

Lieutenant Russell Berg completed the 60-hour Fire Inspector I course and passed the State certification exams. The department said Berg will now help with conducting the semi-annual business fire inspections in the Town Nokomis.
