TOWN OF NOKOMIS – This week, the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department flushed and flow tested two of its dry hydrants.
In a Facebook post, the department said the Prairie Rapids and the Point O' Pines fill sites serve as quick access to water when a lot is need.
“They are basically large diameter PVC pipes with strainers under the water and a fire thread connection above ground to connect to a portable fire pump or, in these (photos), to a fire engine,” the department explained. “We'd use these sites to refill tenders to haul water to the fire scene, that's why we ask that no one park near them.”
