Middle school grapplers compete in Marathon, Merrill

MARATHON – The Tomahawk Middle School wrestling team recently competed in Marathon and Merrill.

The TMS grapplers traveled to Marathon for a six-team scramble on Monday, Jan. 27. The other teams involved were Marathon, Merrill, Stevens Point, Stratford and Tri-County.

Spencer Bauman, Dustin Dermer, RJ Guzman, Hector Luna Perez, Charlee Lund, Lexi Palmer, Hallie Pierce, Pryce Roberts and Victoria Towle came away with at least one victory on the night.

Merrill

On Friday, Jan. 31, the middle school wrestlers took part in conference team and scramble tournaments in Merrill. A total of 25 teams participated.

In the team tournament, RJ Guzman went 4-1 and placed 5th. Also wrestling in the team tournament but not placing were Layton Taves (1-2) and Brayden Nowak (0-2).

In the scramble round robin tournament winning matches and placing were Lexi Palmer, Victoria Towle, Hallie Pierce, Cooper McMeekin and Hector Luna Perez, first place; Brantley Budzynski, Christian Hock, Charlee Lund, Dustin Dermer and Spencer Bauman, second place; and Pryce Roberts and Latrell Williams, third place.

The TMS wrestlers were set to travel to Crandon on Monday, Feb. 3, to compete in a scramble.
