TOMAHAWK – MACR (Merrill Area Community Rides Charity) recently presented Kinship of Tomahawk with a check for $1,109.00, representing the proceeds from the June 17 Annual Mud ‘N Jams ATV/UTV/Motorcycle Ride and Poker Run.

Founded in fall 2016 with a single goal – to raise funds for area individuals, families and non-profit organizations – MACR grew quickly and, in 2018, expanded to include three annual events:  Sleds N Jams Snowmobile Ride and Poker Run, held the third Saturday in February; Mud ‘N Jams ATV Ride and Poker Run, held the third Saturday in June; and Rosco’s Ride Motorcycle Ride and Poker Run, held the third Saturday in September.

To date, MACR has raised and contributed more than $40,000.00.

The donation to Kinship of Tomahawk was a milestone for MACR because it is the first time the organization selected a recipient from outside of the Merrill area.

In 2022, the MACR Board of Directors unanimously voted to increase and expand their reach to include all of Lincoln County.

Kinship was nominated by a community member utilizing the application process and ultimately selected to be the recipient of the proceeds from the 2023 Mud ‘N Jams event.

This year also marks the fifth anniversary of MACR partnering with the Merrill High School FAB Lab to design, produce and donate customized, oversized “donation checks” to present to the recipients of their fundraising efforts.
