LINCOLN COUNTY – Peter Tesch, owner of Blue Sky Photography, was tipped off about a bear hibernating in a local area north of Merrill and brought his camera to get some nice shots of the bear as it was sleeping and then awakening in a thicket.
Later that day, on Monday, March 31, Pete decided to take his wife for a drive in the area.
“I wanted to go back to see if he was still in the area and so Dee could see him (if he was),” Pete said.
They were in luck.
“We spotted this massive black bear sunning himself,” Pete said. “He had only moved a couple of hundred yards from where he was in the morning.”
“He was really groggy and slowly meandered back into the thicket after this photo was taken,” Pete said.
He captured this amazing shot from about 30 yards away with his Canon 6D Mark 2 with a Sigma Contemporary 150-600 lens.
