Posted

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, Oct. 29:

On 10-22-24 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on USH 8 near CTH Y in the Town of Bradley for speeding and failure to secure load. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Rhinelander man, 64, and in doing so, he noticed signs of impairment. The deputy asked the driver to perform some sobriety tests, which the driver agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the driver was placed under arrest for a second offense OWI. The driver was also found to be in possession of a shotgun. The driver was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was booked for the OWI violation, as well as going armed while intoxicated and several traffic violations.

On 10/23/2024 deputies were dispatched to the area of the N2900 block of Mosser Rd. in the Town of Schley for a motor vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the only vehicle involved in the crash had been traveling on Mosser Rd. when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, entering the ditch and rolling to final rest. Deputies found the vehicle to be cold to the touch, suggesting that it had been there for a period of time. In speaking with the driver, an Almond man, 44, he had thought that he struck another vehicle and that was the reason for the crash. Deputies were unable to locate any other vehicle involved in the crash. There was also no evidence of drinking located at the scene. The driver was transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.

Deputies conducted 19 traffic stops and 12 security checks.

Deputies responded to 12 car vs. deer crashes, one car vs. bear, one car vs. bobcat and one car vs. raccoon.

Driving complaints: Five.

The 911 Center took two hang-up calls and six nuisance calls
