Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: May 19, 2025

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, May 19:

On 5/14/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a one-vehicle crash with injuries on CTH C in the Town of Schley. When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with the driver, a Wausau man, 63. In speaking with the driver, he was unable to recall what led to the crash or the crash itself. He was transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment.

On 5/16/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a motorcycle crash with injuries on USH 51 near USH 8 in the Town of Bradley. When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 21. The man reported that while he was traveling on USH 51, his motorcycle began to wobble and he was unable to recover from that, causing him to be ejected from the bike and ending up in the median. Deputies also spoke to a witness who confirmed the driver’s story, and they indicated they thought the wobble might have been caused by a gust of wind. The driver denied medical treatment.

On 05/17/2025 a deputy on patrolling on CTH K near Lincoln Dr. in the Town of Merrill located a vehicle stopped on the side of the road. When the deputy investigated the vehicle, they found the driver, a Merrill man, 54, slumped over the wheel. The deputy was able to wake the man and also observed signs of impairment. The deputy asked the driver to perform some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests, he was arrested for a second offense of OWI. He was also booked for carrying a concealed weapon and going armed while intoxicated.

On 05/18/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a car crash with injuries on STH 17 in the Town of Harrison. When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with the driver, an Eagle River man, 22. In speaking with the deputies, the driver was unable to recall how he crashed. He stated he had been drinking, but the deputy was unable to see signs of impairment. The driver did have what appeared to be a head injury. He was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital.

Deputies conducted 47 traffic stops and 31 security checks.

Deputies responded to 11 car vs. deer crashes.
