Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: March 10, 2025

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, March 10:

On 3/6/2025 a deputy was send to the N700 block of STH 64 in the Town of Pine River for a reported property damage crash. Upon arrival, the deputy had found the crashed vehicle unoccupied. The deputy located the owner’s identification and began searching for him at his last known address. As the deputy was searching for the driver, the driver returned to the scene with a tractor and pulled the vehicle out. A short time later, the deputy saw the vehicle in operation on Poplar Rd. The deputy made an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver pulled into a private driveway and attempted to flee on foot. The suspect, a Merrill man, 53, eventually complied with the deputies’ efforts to detain him. In speaking with the man, the deputy observed signs of impairment and asked the man to do some sobriety tests. As a result of those tests, the man was arrested for a 4th offense of OWI, along with resisting/obstructing an officer and vehicle operator flee/elude officer. The subject was later booked into the Lincoln County Jail.

On 3/8/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a reckless driver traveling S/B on USH 51 near the 224 mile marker in the Town of Bradley. It was reported that the suspect vehicle was hitting the rumble strips and the middle lane regularly. A deputy located the suspect a short time later and observed similar driving behavior, prompting the deputy to stop the vehicle on USH 51 S/B near the 211 mile marker. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Hatley man, 55, and observed signs of impairment. The deputy asked the driver to perform some sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, the driver was placed under arrest for a second offense of OWI and resisting arrest. The driver was later booked into the Lincoln County Jail.

Deputies conducted 26 traffic stops and 44 security checks.

Deputies responded to five car vs. deer crashes, one car vs. bird, and one car vs. unknown animal.

Driving complaints: Nine.

The 911 Center took four hang-up calls and five nuisance calls.
