As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, June 1:
On 05/25/2026 a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling S/B on USH 51 south of Kaphaem Rd. in the Town of Bradley. The deputy recognized the vehicle and knew that the registered owner had warrants for his arrest. As such, the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, causing the driver to flee. The deputy initiated a vehicle pursuit which reached speeds of 130 MPH. The chase continued for several miles until the deputy lost sight of the suspect vehicle, and terminated efforts to stop the vehicle out of concern for the safety of all involved. A short time later, the Sheriff’s Office received information that the suspect, a Wausau man, was in a bar in downtown Tomahawk. The deputies located the man and took him into custody. He was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was booked in for more than a dozen charges related to the chase, as well as drug violations, probation violations and warrants for his arrest.
On 05-26-2026 a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling on West Main St. near State St. in the City of Merrill. The deputy observed several equipment and registration violations with the vehicle, and he also knew the driver to have a revoked driver’s license. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle for the observed violations. The driver continued a short distance before pulling into a parking lot off of the roadway. The deputy made brief contact with the driver, a Merrill man, who then started to walk away. The deputy indicated that the man was acting aggressively. The deputy then held the man at Taser point while calling for assistance from other officers. After a brief investigation, the man was placed under arrest for one felony count of bail jumping, two misdemeanor counts of bail jumping, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of resisting/obstructing an officer. He was later transported and turned over to jail staff.
On 05/27/2026 a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling in the area of STH 17 and Heineman Rd. in the Township of Schley. The deputy noticed and stopped the vehicle for operating at night time with no working tail lights. When the deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The man was asked to perform some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the driver was placed under arrest for a first offense OWI. He was later released to a responsible party.
On 05/28/2026 deputies were sent to an address on STH 64 and 107 in the Town of Corning for a disturbance between a husband and wife. When deputies arrived on scene, they spoke with the female party and decided based on what she reported there were no criminal violations present. However, it was reported that the male subject might have been drinking. The deputies made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, and observed signs of impairment. The deputies asked the man to perform some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the man was placed under arrest for a first offense OWI. He was later released to a responsible party.
Deputies conducted 59 traffic stops and 30 security checks.
Deputies responded to 17 car vs. deer crashes, one car vs. eagle and one car vs. fox.
