Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Jan. 19, 2026

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Jan. 19:

On 01/14/2026 deputies were dispatched to the area of Horseshoe Rd. and East Horseshoe Rd. in the Town of King for a car crash with injuries. When deputies arrived, they spoke with the occupants of the car, a man and woman from Genoa City, Wis. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was S/B on Horseshoe Rd. when the driver attempted to negotiate a curve in the road. The driver lost control of the vehicle on slippery roads, and the vehicle entered the ditch, striking several trees. The passenger of the car was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital for treatment.

On 01/15/2026 deputies were sent to the area of Hagar City Rd. north of STH 64 in the Town of Corning for a car crash with unknown injuries. Upon arrival, deputies reported that it looked like the vehicle was N/B on Hagar City Rd. when the driver swerved to the west and overcorrected the vehicle, causing it to roll over. Deputies located and spoke with the driver, a Wausau man, 31, who was exhibiting signs of impairment. When asked, the driver originally stated he would perform sobriety tests, but then refused to complete the tests. The driver was then placed under arrest for a second offense of OWI, operating after revocation and failure to install an IID. He was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to corrections officers.

On 01/16/2026 deputies were dispatched to the area of USH 51 and CTH V in the Town of Birch for a car crash with injuries. When the deputies arrived on scene, they determined that the driver, a Tomahawk woman, 37, was traveling N/B on USH 51 just north of CTH V when she lost control of her vehicle and entered the ditch, rolling to final rest. The driver was complaining of neck pain and was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Merrill Hospital for her injuries. She was issued citations for tire tread violations and driving too fast for conditions.

On 01/17/2026 deputies were sent to the area of Pine Lake Rd. and Hummingbird Ln. in the Town of Harrison for a snowmobile crash with injuries. Deputies arrived on scene and were able to speak with the parties involved. The driver, a Gleason man, 61, didn’t remember what had happened, and other members in his group didn’t witness the crash. From observing the scene, it looked as though rider was S/B on Pine Lake Rd. when he came up on a curve that he failed to negotiate. The man sought out medical treatment on his own.

Deputies conducted 60 traffic stops and 75 security checks.

Deputies responded to six car vs. deer crashes.
