Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Feb. 9, 2026

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Feb. 9:

On 02/5/26 the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a hit-and-run crash on USH 51 near CTH Q in the Town of Scott. Witness reported that the suspect driver, a Birnamwood man, 19, was observed traveling N/B on USH 51 at a high rate of speed prior to hitting the victim’s vehicle in the rear. A short time later, a deputy located the suspect and his vehicle not far from the scene of the crash. In making contact with the suspect, he stated he left the scene because he got scared. The investigating deputies noticed signs of impairment and requested the driver to perform some sobriety tests, which he refused to do. The suspect was then placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI and two counts of bail jumping-misdemeanor. He was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to Corrections officers.

Deputies conducted 49 traffic stops and 78 security checks

Deputies responded to three car vs. deer crashes.
