As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Feb. 3:
On 1/27/2025 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on CTH W near Deer Run Ave. in the Township of Pine River for equipment violations and driving behavior. After stopping the vehicle, the deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill woman, 19, and observed signs of impairment. The deputy requested the driver perform some sobriety tests, which she did. As a result of those tests, the woman was placed under arrest for a first offense OWI. The woman was later released to a responsible party.
On 1/30/2025 deputies were sent to an address in the N4700 block of STH 17 in the Township of Schley for a reported domestic dispute in progress. It was reported to be physical in nature. Upon arrival, the R/P stated that the suspect, a Merrill woman, 26, had struck him and he thought she was possibly under the influence of drugs. The suspect’s boyfriend was also present during the disturbance, but left prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Following the investigation, the female was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where she was booked in for domestic battery, disorderly conduct and several counts of bail jumping. Additional charges may be considered as there was a second victim that was identified.
On 02/1/2025 deputies were called to the area of Rock Island Resort on STH 107 in the Town of Merrill for a reported adult male walking around with no clothing on. It was also reported that he was highly intoxicated. When the first deputy arrived on scene, they located the adult male, who was completely without apparel and highly intoxicated. The deputy made contact with the suspect, a Wausau man, 46. The deputy attempted to detain the man, but he resisted the deputy’s efforts. The deputy then brought the man to the ground, where he was placed under arrest. The man was taken to Aspirus Merrill Hospital for medical clearance prior to being brought to the Lincoln County Jail. At the jail, the man was booked in for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and lewd and lascivious behavior. He later posted bond and was released from the jail. The man remained uncooperative throughout the contact.
On 02/2/2025 deputies were dispatched to the area of STH 17 and Stefanez Rd. in the Township of Harrison for a motor vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the driver of the vehicle, a Weston man, 80, had been traveling S/B on STH 17 and while doing so, he was eating a breakfast sandwich when a deer ran out in front of him. While attempting to avoid the deer, the man dropped his breakfast sandwich to the floor board of his truck. The man then pulled over to the side of the road to retrieve his sandwich, at which point he fell on slippery roads and injured his leg. The man also failed to put his car in park, so after he fell to the ground, his truck rolled into the ditch. The man was transported by a Rhinelander area ambulance and taken to Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital for the injury to his leg. LISO was assisted by Oneida County sheriff’s deputies and Rhinelander EMS.
Deputies conducted 37 traffic stops and 56 security checks.
Deputies responded to six car vs. deer crashes and one car vs. eagle.
Driving complaints: One.
The 911 Center took two hang-up calls and three nuisance calls.
