As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Dec. 15:

On 12/9/2025 deputies were sent to the area of Monterey Dr. and STH 64 in the Town of Pine River for a car crash with injuries. When a deputy arrived on scene, they made contact with the driver, a Schofield man, 44. The driver stated he was S/B on Monterey Dr. and his vehicle slid on slippery roads. The vehicle continued through the intersection and came to rest in the ditch on the south side of STH 64. A child passenger in the car received a bump on their head and was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Merrill Hospital to be checked out.

On 12/12/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible child abuse/neglect situation at an address in the Town of Bradley. According to the R/P, a large family consisting of two adults and eight children live in an RV along with several pets. One of the children from the RV went to a neighbor’s house asking for food, as the child’s parents were not home. The neighbor went to McDonalds and got food for all the kids and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office, along with Child Protective Services, responded to the location to investigate. On scene, it was learned that the parents had left eight young children home alone as they traveled to purchase marijuana. It was also learned that the parents on a regular basis would physically discipline the children by either punching, kicking or putting them outside while not properly dressed. The children told the investigators that they did not feel safe at home. The children were then removed from the house by Child Protective Services prior to the return of their parents. When the parents arrived at the residence, they were both arrested for physical abuse of a child, child neglect, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. It was also learned that the RV the family was staying in did not have heat. The children were temporarily relocated while Child Protective Services is working to find a more suitable place for them to stay. Five dogs were also removed and transported to the Lincoln County Humane Society. The parents were later booked into the Lincoln County Jail. All names are being withheld to protect the identity of the children.

On 12/14/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received an Apple Crash Detection report of a possible car crash on USH 8 near Sheldon Rd. in the Town of Bradley. Dispatchers were able to hear someone on the phone, but they were not responding. When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with the driver, a Marinette woman, 64. She reported that she had been W/B on USH 8 when she fell asleep. The vehicle exited the road and came to rest in the ditch. As a result, the car’s airbags deployed, and the woman was complaining of her hand hurting. She was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital for treatment.
