As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, April 28:
On 4/21/2025 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on CTH Q near CTH K in the Town of Scott for a traffic violation. In making contact with the driver, a Merrill female, 17, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The deputy requested the driver perform some sobriety tests, which she agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the driver was placed under arrest for a first offense OWI. She was later released to her mother.
On 4/22/2025 deputies were sent to the area of Joe Snow Rd. and Scott Rd. in the Town of Scott for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Upon arrival and making contact with the driver, a Merrill woman, 26, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The deputy then requested the driver do sobriety tests, which she agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the driver was placed under arrest for a second offense of OWI. The driver was later booked into the Lincoln County Jail.
On 04/23/2025 deputies were dispatched to the Lokemoen boat landing for a fisherman’s worst nightmare. The Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle, along with a boat and trailer, submerged in the Wisconsin River. According to the deputy who responded, the owner, a Black Creek man, 58, was attempting to put his boat in the water when he backed up a little too far and his truck hit a slippery spot that prevented the vehicle from gaining traction and drive back out of the water. As a result, a wrecker was needed to recover the unit, along with the boat and trailer. No injuries were reported.
On 04/26/2025 deputies were sent to the area of the N5900 block of STH 17 in the Town of Russell for a motor vehicle crash. It was further reported to the Sheriff’s Office that a truck had gone off the road and struck a tree. As first responders arrived on scene, they reported that it appeared as though the driver, a Gleason man, 63, was impaired. When a deputy arrived on scene, he noticed signs of impairment and requested the driver to do some sobriety tests. The deputy reported that the driver was cooperative with the tests, but appeared to be so impaired that he just couldn’t do them. The driver was arrested for a first offense OWI. He was unable to find a responsible party to pick him up, so he was held at the Lincoln County Jail for 12 hours.
Deputies conducted 47 traffic stops and 31 security checks.
Deputies responded to five car vs. deer crashes and one car vs. turkey.
