As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, April 27:

On 04/20/26 deputies were dispatched to the area of CTH K and River Rd. in the Town of Scott for a two-car crash with injuries. It was reported one of the drivers had been ejected from the car. Deputies arrived on scene and found that a Gleason man, 57, had been traveling W/B on CTH Q approaching CTH K when he failed to stop for a stop sign and struck a S/B vehicle being operated by a Merrill man, 60. Both parties were injured in the crash. The Merrill man was ejected from his vehicle. He was transported by Merrill Ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The other driver was not transported. The investigation is ongoing. The extent of injuries for the Merrill man was unknown as of this writing.

On 04/20/2026 the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a reckless driver traveling N/B on USH 51 south of the 205 mile marker just entering Lincoln County in the Town of Scott. The suspect vehicle was reported to passing people and driving all over the road. A deputy located the suspect vehicle traveling W/B on CTH Q and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Lake Rd. just north of CTH Q. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man. The man told the deputy that he was on his way to the courthouse, as he had court in an unrelated traffic matter. The man also advised that he was not a valid driver. The man received citations for 4th+ offense OAR and displaying false registration plates, and he was required to remove illegal window tint from the vehicle.

On 04/23/2026 deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office were working a directed patrol effort targeting the trafficking of illegal drugs. During this detail, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling in excess of the posted speed limit. The initial deputy radioed ahead to a second deputy, who stopped the suspect vehicle for the traffic violation. The deputy made contact with the driver and passenger and identified them both as Eagle River men. Deputies requested the assistance of Lincoln County’s K-9 unit. During an exterior sniff of the vehicle, K-9 Nina alerted positive. Subsequent search revealed drug paraphernalia and cocaine in the vehicle. Both parties were arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. The passenger was booked on four counts of felony bail jumping, one count of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was booked on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On 04/24/2026 deputies were dispatched to the area of USH 51 near Tug Lake Ave. for a driving complaint involving two vehicles driving recklessly in what was determined to be a road rage incident. During the incident, one of the drivers allegedly armed themselves with a handgun. While responding to the call, the two operators continued driving in a reckless manner until dispatchers were able to get the two drivers to pull over in separate locations and wait for responding deputies. Deputies made contact with the initial caller, a Rhinelander man. The R/P advised he wasn’t sure what was happening, other than he felt he was involved in a road rage situation, and that at one point, the other driver had waived a firearm at him. Deputies spoke with the other driver, a man from Edmond, Okla., who confirmed that he was upset with the other driver’s driving behavior. The driver stated that at one point during the confrontation, he did arm himself with a handgun, but he claimed he never pointed it at the subject. The deputies were not able to definitely say that a violation of the law had occurred. Both parties were released with warning.

Deputies conducted 73 traffic stops and 32 security checks.

Deputies responded to one car vs. deer crash.
