On 4/14/2025 deputies were sent to the area of the N7800 block of CTH E in the Township of Bradley for a car vs. deer crash with injuries. The first a deputy on scene made contact with the driver, a Tomahawk man, 67. The man said he was traveling N/B on CTH E when a deer crossed the road in front of him, resulting in the collision. The man sustained leg and chest injuries and was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital.

On 4/14/2025 a deputy on patrol was approached by a highway worker in the area of USH 51 and MM225 in the Town of Bradley to report that traffic was not slowing down in the work zone. Please remember that summer is just around the corner and that means highway work zones are going to become more common in central Wisconsin. If you find yourself driving in a work zone, please remember those are real people out there just trying to make our roads safer, and as such they deserve to work in as safe of an environment that they can. It’s up to the motoring public to give them the sense of safety by driving with care. In response to the highway workers complaint, the Sheriff’s Office will continue to work targeted enforcement in work zone areas.

On 04/15/2025 a deputies were send to an address in the N400 block of Logan Rd. in the Township of Pine River for a residential burglary not believed to be in progress. Deputies arrived on scene and first confirmed that the crime was not in progress. They then spoke with the victim, a Merrill man, 62. He reported he had just returned home and found that his power was out, his garage door was open and someone had ransacked his residence. Deputies conducted an investigation on scene, collecting evidence that will be submitted to the crime lab for analysis. It was reported that a number of items were taken. The suspects remain unknown at this time, but the case has been submitted to the Sheriff’s Office detective bureau for additional investigation.

It was reported that the man was living at an address in the N2200 block of Oak Ridge Ave. in the Township of Pine River and that a three- to four-year-old child lived at that address as well. The man’s bond orders him not to have any contact with children under the age of 16. The investigating deputy discovered by speaking with someone else at the address that the man does live there, as does a child. The deputy later located the man and took him into custody for the violation of his court bond.

On 04/16/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a hit-and-run crash with injuries on STH 64 near Hillview Rd. in the Township of Pine River. The crash investigation revealed that the victim, a Merrill woman, 49, was W/B on STH 64 when she was struck in the rear by the suspect vehicle that was also traveling W/B. The collision caused the victim’s vehicle to roll over. The victim and her passenger suffered minor injuries, but were not transported to the hospital. It was reported that following the collision, the suspect vehicle, described as a black Chevrolet Trailblazer with Wisconsin registration, had left the scene W/B on STH 64, heading towards the City of Merrill. A short time later, officers with the Merrill Police Department and deputies with the Sheriff’s Office located the suspect vehicle in the City of Merrill and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a Merrill woman, 49, refused to comply with officers’ attempts to stop her, resulting in a vehicle pursuit. After a short distance, the woman pulled into the parking lot of the Trophy Bar where officers/deputy made contact with her. Again, the woman refused to comply with the officers’/deputies’ orders, and she was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. During the arrest process, the deputy observed signs of impairment. The woman refused to cooperate with the officer/deputy. The woman was taken for blood testing to determine her level of intoxication. She was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where she was booked for 1st degree recklessly endangering safety, hit and run with injury, OWI causing injury second offense, resisting/obstructing an officer, vehicle operator flee/elude officer and probation violations. The suspect was not injured as a result of the crash. At court, the suspect was given a $5,000.00 cash bond. She remains in the Lincoln County Jail.

On 04/16/2025 a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle near the intersection of CTH Q and CTH K in the Township of Scott. When the deputy saw the vehicle, he noticed an equipment violation on the vehicle and stopped the vehicle for that reason. The deputy went to make contact with the driver, a Merrill woman, 45, and in doing so, he noticed signs of impairment. The deputy requested the driver to submit to some sobriety tests, which the driver agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the woman was placed under arrest for a second offense OWI, as well as two counts of felony bail jumping. The woman had previously been released in Shawano County with a condition to maintain absolute sobriety. She was also released from Marathon County, where she had a similar restriction. The suspect was given a $2,500.00 signature bond.

On 04/18/2025 deputies were sent to the area of the N11700 block of CTH Y in the Township of Bradley for a disturbance in progress. When deputies arrived, they spoke with both parties the woman, 30, who lived at the residence, and a Rhinelander man, 34, who was visiting. It was reported that the two were casually visiting when the male subject became disorderly by swearing at the woman and calling her names. As a result of the investigation, the male was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. During the transport, the suspect kept up his disorderly behavior with the arresting deputy.

On 04/19/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a woman who was reporting that she was injured and needed help. The location of the call was the W4400 block of Key Largo Dr. in the Township of Merrill. It was reported by the victim that she and her child were at their home when the suspect, a Merrill man, 19, came to the house to drop off some items for their mutual child when he attacked the victim. The victim reported that the suspect attempted to choke her, but she was able to get herself and her child into her car and locked the doors. The victim did have marks on her neck that suggested that the suspect did try to choke her. The suspect left the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Charges will be submitted to the district attorney for suffocation/strangulation. The victim did not require medical attention.

Deputies conducted 52 traffic stops and 41 security checks.
