MERRILL – Lincoln County seniors are invited to attend a community breakfast next week.

The Senior Empowerment Project (SEP)’s Northwoods Senior Breakfast will be held at the Eagles Club, 1205 Lake St., Merrill, on Saturday, March 28.

“The Senior Empowerment Project is a multi-county initiative in Wisconsin dedicated to uniting seniors around shared issues including housing, healthcare, transportation and connection to community life,” a release from the group said.

The release said the event will “bring together local seniors to share a meal, hear from community experts and discuss the issues that impact senior neighbors, including housing, healthcare access, transportation and what it means to age with dignity in northern Wisconsin.”

“Attendees will have the chance to share their own experiences and help shape future priorities for the region,” the SEP stated.

Confirmed speakers include Chad Suwyn of the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), Jessica Mudgett of the Merrill Housing Authority and journalist and researcher Addie Costello, who will speak on policy issues affecting Wisconsin seniors, according to the SEP. Presentations will be followed by table discussions and an open Q&A panel.

“Every senior deserves a home, access to quality care and a real place in community life,” an event organizer said. “This breakfast is a chance to come together, be heard and discern how we can come together to achieve real improvements for seniors across Lincoln County.”

RSVPs are requested at www.tinyurl.com/4zu9v2pd by Sunday, March 22.
