Lenis “Lenny” Roger Henning, 91, of Tomahawk, formally of Helenville, Wis., passed away Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Riverview Nursing Home. Lenis was born March 13, 1933 in Watertown, the son of Alfred and Angeline (Thorndyke) Henning. He was united in marriage to Barbara Schultz on Aug. 24, 1996 in Helenville.
Lenny owned two restaurants, North Shore Inn and Cozy Nook. He was a member of the Helenville Fire Department. His passion and love for fishing and hunting leaves a legacy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Lenny will always be remembered each time we cast a line as the one that started the tradition of fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Barbara; sons, Scott (Charlotte) Henning, Eagle River; Mark (Dianna) Henning, Hanover; stepchildren, Ron (Kelly) Heine, Helenville; Tammy (Gary) Gunderson, Helenville; Don (Melisa Schmidt) Heine, Lake Mills; Cathy Heine, Fort Atkinson; Amanda (Andrew) Simpson, Jefferson; sister, Janice (Tony) Milbrath, Helenville; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Angeline Henning and his siblings, Frances, Marlys, Phillys, Dallas, and Glenys.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tomahawk, with Pastor Mark Gass officiating. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to time of service at church. On Saturday, June 15, 2024 Services were held at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Helenville, Wis. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to time of service at church.
